Oracle JD Edwards has released the availability of enhancements for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and One-Click Provisioning. For JD Edwards customers, this means continued investment in system automation and support for enterprise-class infrastructure.
This article explains the benefits of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne on Oracle Cloud and breaks down the latest enhancements for customers. Let’s dive in.
Enhancements for Oracle Cloud
Let’s begin by going over all the new enhancements JD Edwards customers can expect from Oracle Cloud.
Simplified and Updated Reference Architecture
Oracle has optimized the JD Edwards Reference Architecture to help customers improve performance. Here are some specific benefits you may notice from this optimization:
- Integration with Identity Cloud Service (IDCS).
- Updated provisioning process to incorporate the updated JAS or AIS wiring process
- Addition of a disaster recovery site that contains the same number of machines created for the Production environment
- Manual enablement and configuration of Data Guard for disaster recovery
- Removal of LBaaS for Enterprise Server
One-Click Provisioning Support for Autonomous Database
Thanks to One-Click Provisioning, JD Edwards customers can deploy their JDE database schema on Autonomous Database on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure. This feature automates the provisioning of new JD Edwards instances on OCI with Autonomous Database, reducing the time required to lift and shift JD Edwards to OCI.
Simplified Upgrade Support for 64-bit
The Simplified Upgrade process allows customers to upgrade directly to a 64-bit enabled, code-current 9.2 environment. (And we all know how important it is to keep JD Edwards code current.) Customers can upgrade directly to a 64-bit enabled environment either on-premises or on Oracle Cloud, or while migrating from on-premises to Oracle Cloud.
This enhancement eliminates the two-step process of first upgrading to 32-bit and then transitioning to 64-bit, saving customers time, money, and effort on the upgrading process.
Identity Cloud Service Integration with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
IDCS is a security and identity management platform that has cloud-native capabilities. Now, JD Edwards on OCI supports IDCS, adding an additional layer of authentication and authorization to JD Edwards deployment on OCI.
IDCS gives customers enhanced security and identity management for JD Edwards, as well as new options to address identity management needs for the following:
- IDCS with JD Edwards HTML Server:
- Single Sign-On (SSO) with IDCS for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Web Client
- SSO with integrated JD Edwards web client and Content and Experience Cloud (CEC) using IDCS
- IDCS with JD Edwards AIS Server:
- OAuth 2.0 Inbound to AIS
- OAuth 2.0 Outbound from AIS
- SSO capabilities through mobile
