While the first “official” day of summer is just a few short weeks away, things are already heating up with the Salesforce Summer ‘22 Release, which hits on June 12. The preview is already live, and our Salesforce experts have been busy reading through the documentation and release notes so that we could share with you some of the top features catching fire.

Let’s get started.

9 of the Hottest Salesforce Summer Release Features

1) Custom Address Field

We’ve been waiting a long time for this field, and it’s finally here! A Custom address field that functions like the standard address fields on objects like Account and Contact is in beta in this latest release. That being said, contain your excitement until you have the State and Country picklists enabled. Otherwise, you won’t be able to use the new field.

2) Enable Third-party Integrations with Light DOM

Light DOM, which is generally available, allows third-party tools to traverse the DOM enabling standard browser query APIs like querySelector and querySelectorAll, without traversing the shadow root. It also facilitates global styling so you can apply custom branding to your components and child components easily. One thing to note, however—Salesforce doesn’t recommend using light DOM if you’re working with sensitive data, as using light DOM exposes your components to DOM scraping.

3) Clean Up Inactive Picklist Values

Say goodbye to manually deleting inactive unused picklist values, and say hello to bulk delete! Not only will this save you time, but this will also help to improve your Salesforce hygiene by cleaning up your inactive picklist values and enforcing limits on inactive values for custom picklists. This feature is currently in beta.

4) Multi-factor Authentication for Your Entire Org

In a world of ransomware and cyber-attacks, security has never been more critical. Luckily, Salesforce Summer ‘22 Release makes it a little easier to be safe as you now have the option of adding multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all your users. Just turn on the feature with a checkbox. Salesforce will also be using this setting to enable and enforce MFA in the near future.

5) Customize and Filter Related Lists in the Lightning App Builder

You can now customize related lists directly from the Lighting App Builder instead of the page layout editor with Dynamic Related List. Simply choose the list’s fields and sort order, apply filters, and add a descriptive name to the list. For example, you could create a list of open opportunities created in the last 30 days and then a second list for closed-won opportunities with a specified dollar amount.

6) Limit Results in Tabular Reports

Now you can set a row limit in a tabular report in Lightning Experience, (as opposed to before, when you could only do this in Classic). This will save you processing time and get you to the most relevant records in less time.

7) Create Reports Based on Selected Salesforce Objects

No longer do you have to waste time searching through report types you don’t need. Now you’re able to filter on specific objects when creating a new report. This feature is currently in beta.

8) Edit Multiple Fields on the Report Run Page

Here’s another big-time saver that dropped this release. Updating statuses and cleaning up data no longer require you to rerun the report. Now when you make inline changes in multiple rows or columns, all you have to do is hit Save.

9) Bring Data to Every Conversation with CRM Analytics for Slack

CRM Analytics for Slack, currently in beta, allows you to access your analytics within Slack. You’re able to find, share, and collaborate on CRM Analytics within Slack and get notifications so you can stay up to date on all your data and insights. Neat!
