Our Customer, a machine tool manufacturing company based in the Northeast, had installed Vertex tax compliance software for their business needs. However, the software had not been correctly customized during its installation and was not performing correctly. The Customer did not have an in-house expert capable of fixing these problems, requiring them to bring in an outside consultant from Surety Systems for a comprehensive software review and upgrade.
The Customer was running JD Edwards (JDE) EnterpriseOne (version 8.11) as its primary Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool. This platform was the central ERP system where all master data was stored. To meet their business needs, the Customer required functionality beyond what JDE alone could provide. This led to the initial integration of Vertex tax compliance software (version STQ4.0) to increase the Customer’s tax management capabilities.
