JDE E11 to E12 Upgrade Case Study

Business Challenges:
This client decided to upgrade their JD Edwards software application from 8.11 to 812 in order to take advantage of the HTML source and newer functionality.  For this to be a successful upgrade, it is required to recreate existing custom programs and interfaces to work within the new system.  There would need to be modifications added to some of the new applications as well.

High Level Business Solution:
Migrating and updating JD Edwards applications and reports required Subject Matter Experts in the functional and technical areas.  All interfaces to third party applications would need to be redeveloped to make sure the current process was not interrupted with the upgrade.  Documentation would need to be provided in order to allow any JDE developer to see the process and flow of custom applications and interfaces.

Business/Technical Solution Details:
• Recreated custom financial reports in JD Edwards.  Some of the reports were created through JD Edwards RDA while others were migrated using ER Compare.
• Recreated Custom Job Cost accounting applications and reports using JDE FDA and RDA tools.
• Created Scope of Work (SOW) for replacement of 3rd party interface for Job Costing into JDE 8.12.
• Documented all retrofits and modifications. 
• Created detailed process flow for replacement of Jitterbug (3rd party tool) and conversion of functionality into JDE 8.12 Job Costing module.
